Responsibilities:
Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers hope and healing for youth ages 7 to 17 at the time of admission with several psychiatric diagnoses and/or developmental disabilities.
Located in Portsmouth, VA, Harbor Point provides intensive, residential treatment to youth in a comfortable setting that is conducive to healing.
Our facility specializes in treating children and adolescents with depression, bipolar, ADHD, and other mental health issues.
We also have specific treatment programs for those with intellectual disabilities or those with self-injurious behavior.
Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities.
We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education.
We are a TRICARE®-approved and certified facility.
Provides oversight, training and scheduling of compliance training for staff.
Ensures consistent use of the nursing and residential care process in providing quality care, implements safety, and acts as a resource to all nursing and direct care staff.
Collaborates with other department personnel in establishing and complying with resident care standards, policies, procedures and protocols.
Provides coaching and modeling reinforcement to our mental health technicians regarding training concepts.
Essential Functions: 1.
Coordinate training efforts with various cross-functional areas.
2.
Develop and administer a department specific training curriculum, and enhance training development programs.
3.
Conduct training sessions covering processes specific to the designated departments.
4.
Develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works.
5.
Organizing and directing seminars, workshops, and individual training sessions.
6.
Collaborating with management to evaluate the company’s training requirements.
7.
Mentoring and supporting new employees in collaboration with the Human Resources Department.
8.
Conducting an analysis to identify the areas of improvement.
9.
Selecting and booking the venues for training.
10.
Keeping compliance records and managing the attendance of the employees for training.
Qualifications: Qualifications: Must possess demonstrated leadership ability, the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals, strong oral and written communication skills.
An individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily.
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities, who are otherwise qualified, to perform the essential functions.
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree preferred or High school diploma and associated applicable experience required.
Candidates with additional educational background that is applicable to this setting are preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three years supervisory experience required.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with children and adolescents in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program preferred.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Stand, walk, kneel and reach while working with students for approximately 80-90% of the day.
Use the full range of body motion including handling and physically restraining students when necessary.
Perform First Aid and CPR.
May require physical exertion for training activities.
Must possess physical ability to assist restraining residents under such circumstances.
