*Position Title: Lead Behavioral Health Clinician* *Location: Severn, Greater Chesapeake Region* *Salary Level: Clinician Manager* *Position Type: Full-time, Exempt* *Position Summary:* The Lead Behavioral Health Clinician will assume a leadership role by providing guidance and coaching to a team of Behavioral Health Licensed Clinicians.
Additionally, they will oversee the operations of one or more Behavioral Health Counseling Suites.
This position has a hybrid structure, with 60% of responsibilities dedicated to clinical work and 40% to leadership tasks.
Serving as a licensed clinician, the Lead Behavioral Health Clinician will collaborate with individuals served and their interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, monitor, and adjust behavioral support plans.
Furthermore, they will deliver mental health counseling to a specific group of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Lead Behavioral Health Clinician will actively participate in the Leadership Council and collaborate with the Senior Director of Behavioral Health to foster the development and expansion of Behavioral Health services.
While this position shares similarities with a Direct Support Professional, certification as a Medical Technician is not required.
*Position Responsibilities:* *Clinical* * Conduct assessments to evaluate mental health-related issues.
* Determine the required level of mental health treatment for each assigned individual based on appropriate diagnostic criteria.
* Formulate and execute individualized, person-centered treatment plans, and deliver suitable interventions.
* Facilitate individual and group mental health counseling in alignment with evidence-based practices and approved clinical models.
* Maintain clinical notes and other documentation needed for each participant's electronic medical record (EMR).
* Offer feedback on clinical and diagnostic matters to designated licensed clinicians.
* Provide clinical supervision to designated LGCP, LMSW, LCSW personnel, and perform activities associated with approved clinical supervision, following the terms of your professional license and applicable COMAR regulations.
* Develop and oversee behavioral support plans in collaboration with individuals supported and their teams, ensuring a person-centered approach during development and implementation.
* Assess the effectiveness of plans based on data, reviewing progress notes, and graphic representations of this data, and revise them at least annually.
* Complete initial and ongoing assessments (e.
g.
, Behavioral Functional Assessments, preference assessments) required for plan implementation.
* Attend meetings as scheduled for annual support team meetings and interim meetings regarding behavioral concerns for individuals served.
* Oversee the development of Behavior Support Plans, manage scheduling, track the progress of behavioral plans, and other services provided by licensed clinical staff.
* Collaborate with Direct Support Professionals and program teams to ensure plans are being implemented as prescribed by the plan author.
* Monitor psychotropic medications (additions, reductions, discontinuations) as prescribed by the psychiatrist.
* Collaborate with the team and psychiatrist to ensure appropriate psychiatric diagnoses and treatment, including therapy when necessary.
* Review Incident Reports related to behavioral concerns and monitor the use of restrictive techniques.
* Partner with program teams to develop person-centered strategies as needed.
* Train and coach Direct Support Professionals and program teams in behavioral plans and strategies.
*Leadership* * Manage and coach clinical and support staff, consultants, and contractors, both directly and indirectly assigned.
* Assign individuals served to clinical team members and ensure equitable assignments based on hours worked.
* Collaborate with the Senior Director of Behavioral Health and the Clinician of Practice to provide initial and ongoing training and professional development for licensed clinicians and other Behavioral Health team members.
* Support the Senior Director of Behavioral Health in managing the implementation, review, and benchmarking of Behavioral Health programs and services.
* Cultivate productive and collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
* Facilitate relationships with clinical providers, Coordinators of Community Services, local and state agencies, and other groups.
* Collaborate with the Senior Director of Behavioral Health and Director of Innovation & Improvement to ensure compliance with all Behavioral Health programs and services.
*Program Supports* * Manage the Behavioral Health on-call phone line on a rotating basis.
* Facilitate MANDT and other behavioral health training on a rotating basis.
* Provide coaching and clinical supervision to Behavioral Health Associates.
* Participate in the admissions process by providing a behavioral assessment of individuals interested in services.
*Other Functions* * Support the development of organizational policies, procedures, and practices.
* Participate in outreach activities to promote the growth of Behavioral Health.
* Engage in cross-sector groups and collaborations.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
*Education & Experience Requirements:* * Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field and a LCPC or LCSW-C is required.
* Meet all requirements to be an approved/certified supervisor by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors or the Maryland Board of Social Work.
* Five or more years of professional experience providing behavioral supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a community-based setting.
* At least two years of experience providing management and coaching to licensed clinicians and other clinical professionals.
* Strong understanding and passion for person-centered planning and self-direction for individuals with disabilities.
* Ability to work autonomously with little direction and a solutions-oriented mindset.
* Adaptability and ability to remain flexible and calm under pressure.
* Experience working across cultural, geographic, and programmatic boundaries to support individuals served.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage positive communication in difficult situations and provide candid/constructive feedback.
* Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and knowledge of outcome systems.
Duties: - Conduct data collection and analysis to assess client needs and progress - Utilize ICD-10 coding to accurately document and track client diagnoses and treatment plans - Provide direct support and clinical counseling to individuals with autism, PTSD, and other behavioral health conditions - Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior change - Stay up-to-date with research and best practices in the field of clinical counseling and behavior management - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans for clients Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.
