Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse I is responsible for providing professional nursing care to clinic patients under supervision of physicians and Patient/Clinical Services Manager.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Reviewing the daily schedule.
Open/clean/close down all rooms Keeping them stocked (supplies/forms) and prepped for what the patient appointments.
Checking patient in EHR
Getting Vitals (Height/Weight/BP).
Getting the chief complaint of why patient is in.
Going over all medications with patients to see if they need refills.
Going over all allergies and social history.
Making sure all gaps in care are closed.
Making sure labs are available if they have been done previous to the appointment.
Doing EKG, BW, or any other test if requested by the physician.
Assist the physician with any surgeries or other exams.
Check patient out making sure they have all prescriptions and any other material physician would like the patient to have.
Give injections, draw and process.
Print requisitions for all blood work done.
Sort through daily correspondence and give it to the physician for review.
Checking Inbox continuously through the day- Handling all messages sent to inbox from front office and provider.
This includes calling/mailing info to the patients about labs or referral appts set up by the nurse, corresponding with the physician on any patient's questions that come in, refills if we don't have triage,
Sending any prior authorizations or insurance referrals to referral clerk as need.
Clean and prep equipment as needed.
Call patients with lab results.
All other duties assigned by the office manager or providers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols.
Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality.
Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures.
Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques.
Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods.
Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data.
Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.

Education / Training / Requirements
High School Diploma/GED; and one to three months related experience / training
Nursing school diploma
Current VA state license.
CPR Certification.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift or move equipment.
Ability to stand and walk for limited periods of time.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to enter data into a computer via a keyboard.
Ability to occasionally reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 30 lbs.
