gov/facilities/sevtc/ Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties The Infection Prevention and Control staff work in concert with Medical and Nursing leaders to coordinate a comprehensive hospital-wide Infection Prevention and Control program for staff and individuals receiving services.
The Infection Prevention and Control program meets and exceeds the of the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the Virginia Dept.
of Health, OSHA, DBHDS requirements, as well as CMS, and The Joint Commission standards.
The IPC staff assist in the Coordination and Oversight of Employee Health Services, in Collaboration with Human Resource Department, and the Employee Health Program (Commonhealth) Under the supervision of Director of Nursing and guidance of the Infection Control Committee, chaired by the Medical Director: • Support implementation of numerous safety initiatives for COVID-19 and other emerging pathogens by performing onsite and/or remote infection prevention and control assessments, providing health education to public health staff, and serving as experts in infection control issues • Coordinates facility Infection Prevention and Control program according to Joint Commission requirements for hospital and psychiatric facility standards, CMS regulations, CDC guidelines and OSHA Blood borne pathogen standards.
• Provides client and staff education in matters of Infection Prevention and Control practice and procedure, including addressing vaccine hesitancy among staff and residents/patients.
• Seeks to minimize facility-acquired infections through prevention, surveillance, education and monitoring.
• Promotes employee health and safety with collaboration with the Human Resources Department.
• Assists with RN nurse duties in the Nursing Department This position supports the facility’s mission by independently providing nursing care for individuals living in SEVTC Steppingstones neighborhood.
The team nurse also assists the team in provision of supports to meet addition individual needs.
Nursing duties require the integration of health care needs and supports into the overall habilitation plan, collaborating with the PST (Personal Support Team) and physicians to provide optimal services, and providing ongoing training to direct support staff members.

Minimum Qualifications •Require License or eligibility to practice as Registered Nurse by the Virginia State Board of Nursing.
•Require graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing.
Additional Considerations National Certification relating to infection prevention and control.
Considerable experience in upper-level management of inpatient infection prevention and control.
Advanced computer skills and demonstrated experience with Quality Management and Improvement.
Experience working in an inpatient setting related to mental illness or geriatric treatment.

These positions are hourly/wage and not eligible for benefits.
Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than 29 hours a week and are limited to working 1500 hours in a year.
