Sentara is hiring a Medication History Technician for Sentara Norfolk General, in Norfolk, Virginia
Status: Full time (40 hours)
Work hours: Rotating Shift.
4 x 10-hour shifts/week.
Rotating Weekends (every 4th or 5th weekend)
Job responsibilities:
As an integral member of the healthcare team, the Medication History Technician is responsible for collecting an accurate medication and allergy history for admitted patients in the Emergency Department and/or inpatient units.
Information will be obtained by interviewing the patient, family members, retail pharmacy, nursing home documentation/staff, and any other available resources.
The accurate home list will be documented in eCare to be used by physicians and other healthcare providers to determine treatment plans and medication orders during admission and post-discharge.
The technician will communicate pertinent information (i.
e.
medications that need to be clarified with the physician and/or other healthcare providers) to the supervising pharmacist.
Required qualifications:
Virginia Pharmacy Technician license REQUIRED
Minimum 1 year Pharmacy Technician experience REQUIRED
National Certification REQUIRED
Preferred qualifications
Prior hospital experience strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of: Therigy, Epic, MckessonRX, Jiva, and Microsoft Teams strongly preferred.

VA OR NC Pharmacy Technician Registration Number 1 Year Pharmacy Technician, pharmacy retail experience preferred.
