Position Summary :
Provides support to clinical staff.
Creates and maintains complete and accurate demographic and financial information.
Assembles and maintains patient charts.
Triages all incoming calls to the department.
Orders and maintains medical supplies
Essential Functions:
Enters admission information into computer, verifies accuracy of demographics, insurance, etc.
Assists in verifying insurance and eligibility.
Identifies prior authorization criteria for Intake, verifies Medicare and Medicaid status and obtains proper forms
Telephone communications between office and field staff utilizing field staff, be cell phones in order to exchange patient information.
Appropriately refers clinical issues to Clinical Coordinator and primary field staff
Job Requirements:
Knowledge normally acquired through a general high school education, work requires the knowledge of basic medical terminology and knowledge of basic computer/keyboards for data entry
At least 1-year of clerical experience in any setting preferably in hospice, home health, or other healthcare setting.
Customer service experience a plus.
Strong organizational skills.
Knowledge of insurance verification and eligibility process.
Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid guidelines preferred.
