Purpose and Scope of Job:
This position serves as the engineering product compliance champion.
The primary areas of responsibilities are product configuration, design control, product standard continuity, and operational business support.
Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):
Ensure that in-production products have and meet all technical specifications
Support SMA Front end throughput efficiencies by utilizing and improving upon tools to aid product selection and product design processes.
Drive cost down initiatives based on product optimization and adhering to established best practices
Drive the resolution of Failure Analysis, Root Cause, and Corrective Actions for product failures.
Author technical reports relating Failure Analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Actions for the assigned product.
Manage and document in-production product features, options and accessories.
Manage product technical standards, resources and information.
Support Quality and Manufacturing efforts to resolve order fulfillment problems and meet shipment commitments
Support Product Management and Marketing with technical expertise and verification of technical information.
Serves as the Engineering interface with parent company in Japan on all in-production products.
Proactively partner with the Operation team to ensure product quality adherence.
Monitor the activities of direct reports as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
Five to Six (5-6) years of product engineering or product development experience.
Working Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing Best Practices
Strong knowledge of motors, brake-motors, motor standards such as UL, MG1, CSA and motor design and manufacture is required.
Knowledge of other rotating equipment, such as gearboxes, is preferred.
Previous managerial experience preferred.
