In this position, special focus is given to support our dealers and our growing Industrial segment, besides our already strong Marine segments regarding parts business development.
We are now looking for Field Application Engineer-Southeast to join our amazing team.
This role is remote and is pivotal in meeting Volvo Penta’s targets concerning customer satisfaction.
Area of Responsibility: Southeastern region covering OEMS in Florida and Georgia.
What is the Job? As an application engineer, you will be part of the Marine Sales team, and you will work directly with our OEM partners.
Your primary role will be to provide engineering support and technical sales support for the integration of marine leisure engine applications including gasoline and diesel propulsion systems.
Some of your core responsibilities will include: Interfacing with OEM boat builders to integrate Volvo Penta propulsion products into new OEM boats.
Conducting sea trials of new model boats to verify correct product application and installation.
Working regularly with marine electronics and must have a good understanding of CAN communication, NMEA 2K, chart plotters, etc.
Working regularly with other Volvo Penta departments such as engineering and service to solve product related issues and provide feedback on issues in the field.
As a member of the sales team, you will regularly collaborate with the VPA sales team to understand customer requirements and develop BOM’s (bill of material) for propulsion packages.
Providing technical assistance during meetings, boat shows, and OEM dealer events.
Providing hands-on training to OEM personnel to properly install Volvo Penta propulsion systems.
In this position, you can expect to travel regularly within your area of responsibility and occasionally other parts of the United States as well as internationally.
To be successful in this role, you will need: An exceptional analytical and technical acumen, as well as attention to detail.
To be enthusiastic, solution-oriented, and well-organized.
You will also need to be able to work independently with limited supervision.
We Require the Following Education and Experience for this Role: Minimum of a 4-year bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field that entails the marine engine industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
5+ years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience in the marine industry.
Must be familiar with CAN, NMEA2000, and general marine electronics.
Experience with Volvo Penta marine products is preferred.
As with Most Companies, You Also Need the Following: Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams, and familiarity with database programs You’ll be speaking with customers at all levels within and outside the company, so you’ll need excellent communication skills, including fluency in speaking and writing English.
