General Statement of the Job & Essential Functions
GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for owned media, mainly social media, and the City Website.
Reports to the Manager, Marketing and Communications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Responsible for collaborating with other departments to develop successful social media campaigns.
Develops social media content plans that are consistent with the city’s brand identity.
Creates consistent, meaningful content on all social media platforms, including writing and editing social media posts, improving customer engagement, and promoting social media campaigns.
Drafts, edits, and proofreads all levels of content including the body and headlines for all internal and external needs.
Manages a high volume of daily social media posts.
Communicates with social media followers, including responding to queries in a timely manner.
Develops and manages social influencer programs and attends social influencer events.
Uses analytical tools such as Google Analytics, Hootsuite Pro, and Facebook Insights to monitor and evaluate the city’s social media presence and performance.
Preparing monthly reports on social media marketing efforts.
Suggest recommendations to adjust the social media marketing strategy for optimal results.
Staying up to date on best practices and emerging trends in social media.
Responsible for updating the city’s website and making sure it is current.
Communicates with freelance Content Creators, overseeing social media campaign schedules, and pulling key performance indicators (KPI) data to determine social media campaigns’ success.
Provides information to the general public; keeps abreast of current and future issues and trends.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Individual assignments based on the current workload and department needs.

Has considerable knowledge of HTML.
Has considerable knowledge of web design and publishing.
Has considerable knowledge in the development of marketing plans and evaluation methods.
Is able to use common office machines.
Is able to compile technical information from a variety of sources and prepare clear and concise reports.
Is able to exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in analyzing and applying standards to a variety of situations.
Is able to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
Quality of Work: Maintains high standards of accuracy in exercising duties and responsibilities.
Exercises immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of responsibility.
Maintains high quality communication and interacts within department and division, and with co? workers and the general public.
Quantity of Work: Maintains effective and efficient output of all duties and responsibilities as described under "Essential Job Functions.

Establishes priorities for the completion of work in accordance with sound time?management methodology.
Avoids duplication of effort.
Estimates expected time of completion of elements of work and establish a personal schedule accordingly.
Attends meetings and discussions on time.
Implements work activity in accordance with priorities and estimated schedules.
Maintains a calendar for meetings, deadlines and events.
Safety and Housekeeping: Adheres to all safety and housekeeping standards established by the city and various regulatory agencies.
Sees that the standards are not violated.
Maintains a clean and orderly workplace.
Education, Experience & Special Requirements EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Requires a bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications or a related field and 2-5 years of experience as a Social Media Specialist or similar role and 2-5 years of experience in planning and managing content in an organizational setting, preferably a governmental employer.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS An acceptable general background check includes a local and state criminal history check and sex offender registry check.
Physical Demands MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines, which include computers, adding machines, calculators, copiers, facsimile machines, telephones, etc.
Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
