Harbor's Edge is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician [HVAC Specialist] to join our Plant Operations Team at our state-of-the-art retirement facility in downtown Norfolk.
Technicians are responsible for performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and upkeep on buildings, grounds, equipment, and other household and commercial appliances.
Candidates must possess strong technical skills, including installation and troubleshooting of heating and cooling systems.
Additionally, the successful candidate should have strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installation and troubleshooting skills for heating and cooling systems
Finding and fixing the source of a problem
Finding or altering replacement parts
Installing individual parts (pumps, pipes, fans, etc.
)
Using power tools safely
Must be able to troubleshoot up to 20-tons
Must have experience in compressor and reversing valve change out.
Performing preventive maintenance as needed
Requirements:
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Must be at least 18 years old
High school diploma/GED at a minimum
At least 8 years of related work experience
Ability to utilize work order systems
High level proficiency in general and HVAC maintenance along with experience using hand tools and other tools of the trades
Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions
Able to seek out new methods and principals and willing to incorporate them into existing practices
Able to meet objectives with a minimum of supervision
Knowledge of Safe operating practices
Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public
