gov/facilities/sevtc/ Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties Southeastern Virginia Training Center is seeking a qualified candidate to oversee the functions of the Security office while on duty.
The position serves as Security Officer for a 24-hour facility.
Shift rotations are (7a-3p; 3p-11p; 11p-7am) The Security Officer is also responsible for answering the multi-line phone system and demonstrating a high level of customer service including answering general questions.
The successful candidate should be proficient in technology including demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
The candidate must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills as the staff serves as the main point of contact for both internal and external customers.
The candidate must be detailed oriented, self-motivated, friendly and professional, and must be able to multi-task.
The candidate will maintain security by following procedures, monitoring logbook, issuing visitor badges, and enforcing access control to the building.
The successful candidate will greet and monitor visitor activity and monitor video surveillance monitors.
The candidate will contact police and/or fire departments in the case of an emergency.
Acts in the capacity of first responder for emergency situations.
Ensures that the switchboard is covered at ALL times for emergency situations and emergency codes.
Minimum Qualifications Driver's License Required • Must be able to effectively communicate, interact positively and professionally with peers, other team members, supervisor and outside visitors.
• Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions; observe and accurately observe report and describe observations and in writing.
• Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm and professional manner.
• Ability to use various communication devices which include phone, intercom and two-way radio communications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
•General knowledge of Security procedures Additional Considerations Recent experience providing security, and administrative support in an intermediate care facility.
