Virginia Plastic Surgery, with offices in Suffolk & Virginia Beach, is seeking to hire a full-time _Medical Assistant _with excellent oral and written communication skills.
We seek to add a Medical Assistant to our team who fits the company culture of service, kindness, proactivity and integrity.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced surgical environment, assisting with several office procedures daily, answering and managing patient calls and concerns, preparing patients for surgery, and generally being a team player in the office.
High efficiency with a cheerful disposition is a must.
*Duties & Responsibilities*
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
* Interview patients and document basic medical history
* Update medical records and insurance reports
* Check with patients and type up patients charts
* Assist during medical examinations
* Operate a single or multiple position telephone switchboard
* Reschedule patient appointments and/or schedule new consultations
* Perform related clerical work such as typing, filing, and sorting mail distribution
* Using applicable software programs to check-in, schedule and follow-up with patients
* Notify surgeons, providers or staff of patient arrival
* Providing administrative support when needed
* Managing and ordering office supplies
* Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
* Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
* Working experience as a medical assistant preferred but not required
* Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
* Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
* Social perceptiveness and service-oriented
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong organizational and planning skills
* Proficiency in MS Office and athenahealth preferred but not required
* Degree in medical assistance
*Compensation and Benefits:*
This is a full-time salary position with benefits including: health insurance, dental & vision, 401k and quarterly bonuses based on results of performance reviews as well as paid time off.
