*Waterfront Camp Coordinator—Sail Nauticus*
*About Nauticus:*
Established in 1994, Nauticus is a maritime discovery center that hosts 350,000 visitors annually and is home to the Nauticus Museum, Sail Nauticus sailing center, Schooner _Virginia_, the Battleship _Wisconsin_, and the Half Moone Cruise Terminal.
Nauticus’ mission is to benefit the community through education, impactful experiences, and by sharing access to maritime resources.
This position is funded by the Nauticus Foundation, the 501(c)3 nonprofit, raising funds to support the mission and activities of Nauticus.
*Position Description:*
We are seeking qualified and enthusiastic applicants for the position of Waterfront Camp Coordinator who will report to the Sail Nauticus Manager.
We are offering six 1-week sessions between June 24 and August 9.
This position will work closely with Sail Nauticus and Nauticus Education staff to assist as the waterfront camp lead.
They will monitor sailing activities, lead programming on STEM education linked to sailing, and also serve as a liaison between parents and Nauticus.
This position will also lead trainings and assist in camp planning.
*Duties and Responsibilities:*
· Assist with sign-in and sign-out of campers, serve as point of contact between parents, staff, and campers.
· Act with integrity and professionalism as an ambassador of Nauticus.
· Deliver STEM land-based educational lessons and engage with diverse students of all backgrounds and capabilities.
· Coordinate with Design.
Build.
Sail.
and Sail Voyagers staff.
· Monitor marine radio and traffic as well as man the response/safety boat when students are on the water.
*Skills and Qualifications:*
* Current First Aid and CPR
* Must be comfortable operating small, motorized vessels.
2 years’ experience preferred.
* Current Virginia Safe Boater’s License by hire date (free online course)
* Have a good attitude and pleasant demeanor when interacting with campers and colleagues.
* Experience teaching educational stations and delivering content to diverse students of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
* Demonstrated success at teaching; teaching experience in an outdoor setting is preferred.
* Ability to work outside in a variety of conditions.
Candidates must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull and lift.
* Ability to effectively lead a team of sailing instructors and coordinate with other camp staff.
This is a Full-Time seasonal position between mid June and mid-August 2024.
There is no camp scheduled the week of July 4, 2022.
Hours 8:15 AM-4:45 PM Monday-Friday.
Rate of pay depending on experience and qualifications.
